About the Golf Courses:
Dromoland Castle Golf Course The courses sweeps around the 375 acres surrounding the ancient baronial house. In 1999, Ron Kirby and Joe Carr set to work on creating a golf course to match the splendour of the house, they didn’t disappoint, the result of their work is one of the finest parkland courses in Ireland. Doonbeg Opened in 1991, Doonbeg has already joined the ranks of Ireland’s great golf courses. Designed by Greg Norman, the course makes full use of the soaring, grassy dunes rising almost 100 feet above the crashing Atlantic Ocean.
Killarney Mahony’s Point is one of three outstanding parkland courses in this beautiful location, in the most famous of Ireland’s tourism towns. Sitting below the highest mountain range in Ireland, the course has hosted Irish Opens and the 1996 Curtis Cup. Waterville Golf Club Located on the Ring of Kerry, the course opened in 1973 and since then has hosted a great number of leading professionals. Payne Stewart was a particular favourite here, and following his untimely death a statue of the great man was erected just outside the club house. The attraction of the course is easy to see, a magnificent links overlooking a golden beach with mist shrouded mountains overlooking all who play there. > |
