Ballyliffin has long been a must-visit for those taking the pilgrimage along Ireland's North Western Golfing Trail. Many have played Ireland's more famous golf courses but fewer have experienced the great links of the North West. For those who have not yet sampled the delights of Ireland's North West, how about something like...

  • 7 Rounds of Golf: (Ballyliffin Old, Ballyliffin Glashedy, Donegal, Rosses Point, Enniscrone, Carne, Connemara)

  • 8 Nights Four-Star Accommodation (Ballyliffin Lodge, Radisson SAS Hotel Sligo, Knockranny House, Abbeyglen Castle)

  • Transportation Throughout - Either Self Drive or Chauffeur Driven

  • Prices Based on Eight (8) People Travelling in 2007
Chauffeured Trip: € 1,930 per person sharing
Self-Drive Vehicles: € 1,625 per person sharing

Boasting two majestic links courses (Old Course and Glashedy Course), Ballyliffin is located on Ireland's northernmost peninsula and is certainly a venue not to be missed on any schedule incorporating the Irish North West. Always a terrific test, the Old Course at Ballyliffin has recently undergone a significant re-design under the guiding hand of Nick Faldo, a long-time admirer of the Donegal links and now stands shoulder to shoulder with any links in the country.

According to Faldo: "I first visited Ballyliffin back in the early nineties and I'd only intended to play the front nine but I enjoyed it so much, that I just had to stay for the full eighteen. My company, Faldo Design, and I have worked hard to help the Old Links realise its full potential. We have completely revised the course's bunkering and added a variety of strategic challenges. I also believe that we have succeeded in emphasising the natural beauty that this course has always had in abundance".

Ballyliffin alone is probably reason enough to golf the North Western Coast but when you consider the depth and range of quality links courses and the value for money to be derived by visiting the area, your mind should be made up! Close to the likes of Royal Portrush, Portstewart and Castlerock; depending on the duration of your trip you could also take in such gems as Rosapenna (Old Course & Sandy Hills), Portsalon, Donegal, Rosses Point, Enniscrone, Westport, Carne and Connemara. And if you have time before departing from Shannon, why not throw in rounds at any of Lahinch, Ballybunion, Doonbeg, Adare or Dromoland for good measure.

Courses that were once some of the best-kept golfing secrets in Ireland are now beginning to get the recognition they so richly deserve. You will enjoy the golf but that is only half the battle... great towns, traditional music, remote pubs, majestic scenery and excellent accommodations are all part of the equation and we very much look forward to introducing you to the best of the North West!
